Digital Spy Forums have given me the "Pat Sharp" treatment.
Whoever it is that moderates the Digital Spy Forums (which I recently got reenacted again in 2022 after closing my account on principle that they removed the General Discussion forums (ludicrous and really reduces discussion) have simialrly given me the "Pat Sharp" treatment when I commented on a Greatest Hits Radio discussion thread in support of him rather than his "woke" treatment.
I'd have been banned for only 7 days but am so fed up of this sort of "woke" censorship that I've told them they can make it 7777 days and to stick the forums.
The post
Post that triggered the warning:> Now read that they've got rid of Pat Sharp over virtually nothing, they firmly conform to this woke culture where one little incident will see a career ruined. It's amazing to think that past generations were forced to go to actual war and in this century some words that are said are now what can have a devastating impact on an individual.
DS Greatest Hits Radio Forum Thread
Pat Sharp has been a DJ on different brands of commercial radio over the years, famous for being the presenter of CITV's "Fun House" in the 90s, since then he's been on Radio 1, Q103 and then Heart as it was took over in Cambridge and then Greatest Hits Radio from 2019. He's also popped up on the Now Music channels (on satellite/cable) with some themed music videos. With GHR managing to sign Ken Bruce after the BBC let him go because of their ageist agenda seemingly aimed at depriving people in their 50s and 60s of the radio presenters they liked to listen to on Radio 2, the Bauer bosses had to shift Mark Goodier off mid mornings and they'd already decided to put him on weekends in Pat Sharp's slot, some smart know it all from the DS forums then claimed that I couldn't have realised that Bauer had already decided to shunt Pat Sharp from their station anyway if I had posted that, however Bauer did decide to intervene with an opinion on the so called "incident" by putting him on "gardening leave", sounds like a nice little break getting paid in full and not having to work, but basically he's been binned off the radio before he was going to be!
Perhaps if GB News creating a pop music channel then Pat Sharp could be back on, where he should be anyway! After saying a few words relating to something sexual, it's at best a little bit crass and tasteless (even I think that) but doesn't really amount to the sort of "offence" where I think it is worth of the retribution to his career, which always seems to be the first resort against anyone not complying to the so called "woke" sensibilities these days.
The story went something like this. He'd been hired at some sort of corporate party to be a light hearted entertainer presumably with a bit of banter, until something he said (probably without thinking about it very much beforehand) went a bit south with someone present who in all likelihood is probably somewhat of a "karen" given her over the top "I'm all offended" reaction. I think he gave out a T-Shirt as a prize and then added a bit of sexual banter (because the receiver was a woman you see logical!) saying something like the only way I'll get close to your tits is with this T-shirt), it probably would have been an average line in Baywatch in the 80s, she then reportedly burst into tears and claimed she felt violated, and a retracting apology by Pat Sharp wouldn't suffice, not least for the stuffy corporate radio networking bosses of Bauer who said something about "leaving with immediate effect". It wasn't the smartest thing but in 2023 with all the austerity and cost of living crisis does it even really matter that much, is it really that much of a revelation for the average woman that as men are often visually based they might make the odd offhand sexual comment about finding you attractive, and this rather crass joke is aimed at the whole idea that you are not generally sexually available to every man who might find you attractive and so the T-Shirt is the only thing that is actually going to get close to the breasts, even in joke form men can no longer get away with saying the blindingly obvious, it's only sex stuff, it's just how biology works.
Anyway if you're a man (in 2023) you should never make any comments that reveal that you actually fancy some women, particularly in joke form. You should publicly appear to have the sexual status of a 70 year old celibate monk.
I've no idea who the company was he was doing it for, whether they make cakes or nuclear weapons, I couldn't be arsed to do that much actual research. it was the Conference News Agency, must be some fairly stuck up people there I suppose.
Pat Sharp - a radio presenter who said a thing and dared to say it in 2023.
This should be your media personality in 2023! Particularly if you are on a big outlet that is full of its own sense of importance (GHR, BBC, Digital Spy!)
The only way you should ever accidentally offend someone is by thoroughly boring them!
