Deal Or No Deal to relaunch on ITV

Deal or No Deal to be revived on ITV later in 2023.



The hit game show Deal Or No Deal looks set to make a return on itv1 according to this news article with game show host Stephen Mulhern, the hit show which was heavily based on probability and created a scenario in which participants could ultimately win anything from 1p to £250,000 was launched on Channel 4 back in 2005 and with a few format tweaks finally left the channel in 2014. It became Channel 4's biggest ever hit in daytime TV and effectively relaunched the career of its presenter Noel Edmonds who had been fading somewhat from the limelight in the Noughties as his biggest fame previously came from the Saturday night BBC One show "Noel's House Party" during the 90s and his success before that on BBC Radio 1.  Noel attributed the new success in 2005 due to his dabbling in something called Cosmic Ordering. Noel won't be on board for the reboot on ITV however stepping aside for Stephen Mulhern.

Since the end of its run on Channel 4 (and sometimes More4), reruns have occasionally popped up on Challenge.


The populist format of this show admittedly suits ITV,  other revivals are to include Big Brother on ITV2, and also allegedly The X Factor by Channel 5.

Rather randomly Now Yearbook '92 has just been announced. The series began with Now Yearbook 1983 back in Summer 2021 on 4 CDs containing just over 80 songs from the year (some of them huge hits and others more obscure choices from the year in chart music) and then fans were surprised that instead of being followed up with Yearbook 1984 it was followed up by Now Yearbook 1983 Extra which simply provided 3 more CDs of hits to complement the original 4 with about 60 more songs included, some of the choices becoming yet more obscure. It was then actually followed by Yearbook 1984 and Yearbook 1984 Extra but fans were once again surprised by the series then going backwards to release Now Yearbook 1982 instead of 1985, but 1985 & 1986 also eventually followed and the series also has so far now gone back as far as Yearbook 1978. Internet Radio & now also Mixcloud banning single artist shows - why the PRS/PPL doesn't make sense.

Why are the big copyright agencies for the record industry dead set against smaller broadcasters playing more than 2 or 3 songs by a single artist in a row or within an hour? and does this really achieve anything? (even looking at it from their point of view), I argue that it does not and look into the restriction here. Mixcloud which for years didn't seem to have this restriction at all has now hit uploaders with it as well. Want to play copyrighted songs over the interweb? you've got to ask these guys first, mmmkay!
